Le zoo de Philadelphie était témoin récemment de la naissance d'un bébéAye-aye,un animal mammifère de la famille des Lémuriens.
Ils ont décidéde l'appeler Smeagol aprè sa forte ressemblance au personnage du film Seigneur des anneaux". Voyez à partir de ces images ce que le zoo décrit comme " “creepy-cute babyâ€Â. N'est-il pas... précieux ?
L'Aye-Aye. (Daubentonia madagascariensis) est une espèce de primates qui vit à Madagascar. C'est la seule espèce du genre Daubentonia, lui-même seul membre de la famille des daubentonidés. Elle est considérée comme vulnérable à l'extinction selon l'IUCN. Cette petite bête a des oreilles de chauve-souris, des yeux de hibou, une queue d'écureuil et des dents de rongeur. Il n'est pas trè beau, mais trè agile.
C'est un animal nocturne qui dort toute la journée. Il ne sort que le soir pour aller à la recherche de nourriture. Il habite les forêts de Madagascar. Il fait son refuge dans les buissons ou bien dans le creux d'un arbre.
Pour son alimentation, le aye aye se nourrit de fruits, d'insectes et de bambou. Son ouà¯e est si développée qu'il n'a qu'à taper sur les troncs d'arbres et le son qu'il entend lui fait savoir si des insectes s'y cachent.
Difficile à observer, on croit que sa reproduction se fait à tous les deux ans et que le nouveau néreste avec sa mère pendant un an.
Le Aye Aye est sévèrement menacéde disparition. Il a ététrè chasséà cause de croyances et de superstitions qui disaient qu'il portait malheur. L'homme est son plus grand prédateur.
La durée de vie du aye aye en captivitéest d'environ 26 ans.
